GOVERNMENT
Indiana has a mostly Republican government. In fact, our governor is Republican. Just like our federal government. The executive branch holds the governor. As a governor once you get elected you hold a 4-year term just like if you were the president. The legislative branch and/or the General Assembly is Senators and the state Representatives. The Indiana senate is 2 people who have been elected. They serve for 4 year terms. The state Representatives for 2 year terms. In odd-numbered years, the General Assembly meets in a sixty-one-day session. In even-numbered years, the Assembly meets for thirty session days. The judicial branch consists of the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and local circuit courts.
Governor of Indiana
The governor of Indiana is Eric Holcomb who is the state's 51st governor. He is a republican who's office right before governor was the Lieutenant Governor in 2016 through 2017. Eric Holcomb was born on May 2nd, 1968 in Vincennes. Also, in an interview he said that his favorite part of being governor is travelling through Indiana and helping people solve their problems. His campaign slogan was to "Bring Indiana to the next level." He is a veteran from the U.S. Navy and his wife's name is Janet Holcomb who is the first lady if Indiana and he has a dog named Henry. He loves anything that has to do with Abraham Lincoln.
Lieutenant Governor
The lieutenant governor is Sarah Crouch who was born on February 27th 1952 in Evansville, IN. Like the governor of Indiana, she is Republican and before becoming the lieutenant governor he was the Auditor of Indiana. She graduated at Purdue University and got a Bachelor's Degree for political science and her husband id Larry Downs. She has a daughter named Courtney and she is Catholic. She has been a representative for Indiana in Congress. In 2002 she was elected as Vanderburgh County Commissioner.
